Access insights on footfall activity and visitor catchments across selected locations in the UK

The Location Insights API provides data on footfall and home catchment for key retail locations and custom areas of interest (AoIs) in the UK. 

Key features

This API provides data on:

  •  Daily footfall volumes - Daily footfall volumes across selected AoIs in the UK. Footfall counts are broken down by visitors, residents and workers, as well as demographics, income and country of origin.
  • Hourly footfall volumes – Hourly footfall volumes across selected AoIs in the UK. Footfall counts are broken down by visitors, residents and workers.
  • Home catchment – Weekly, monthly or quarterly counts of visits to AoIs across the UK, broken down by the home location of visitors. Counts can be further broken down by demographic and affluence segments. 

    Reports are updated weekly.  

Available locations include CDRC retail boundaries, store locations for top 500 UK retail brands, and customer-provided areas of interest. Locations that can be queried by the user will depend on the subscription purchased.

To ensure that the data remains anonymous, BT has implemented internal policies and guidelines to eliminate the risk of identification of individuals, keeping the data anonymised and aggregated. We do not report on any volumes below 10, instead these are identified as Insufficient Data Event (IDE). We also do not report on any data relating to under 18s.
