The Footfall API provides volumes for overall footfall, footfall density, mobility (time spent in or away home area location) and visits (footfall excluding population observed in home location) for the UK population
Key Features
This API provides data on:
Footfall - Provides data on overall footfall in the UK. Datasets are available as hourly and daily and are updated daily.
Mobility - These datasets show, for each population segment, the proportion of time spent in or away from their home area location, where “Home area” is typically an area of the size of a Middle Layer Super Output areas (MSOA) or postcode sector. Home and away percentages are provided for each home location, date and demographic segment.
Visits - These datasets show footfall, excluding population, observed in their home location. A high volume indicates a major place of destination for people leaving their home. The volumes are provided for each visited location and demographic segment. Data sets available as hourly and daily.
Footfall density - These datasets show footfall density: population volumes per square kilometre. Datasets available as hourly and daily.
Data is provided at MSOA or Local Authority Delivery (LAD) level
In compliance with GDPR, to protect the privacy of our customers and to prevent any identification of individuals, data is aggregate on the volume of population for a given segment. Any volume relating to users under 18 is removed, volume below 20 is marked at “IDE” (Insufficient Data Events) and all volumes are rounded to the nearest 10.
